This could be the reason why your house has NOT SOLD yet!!

There are so many reasons why your house has not sold yet, but the number 1 reason I see as a Professional Home Stager is the amount of work needed to get the house into shape. One of my major pet peeves is the dreaded WALLPAPER!!

While I have to admit that back in the 80's I was a huge fan of wallpaper (before there was faux finishing) today, I HATE IT!! WHY...check this out!

FIRST, IT'S UGLY, you have to agree with that, right?? It looks dated... AND it limits your options for decorating. So therefore a buyer KNOWS they must get rid of the wallpaper once they move in and honestly most are just not up to the task...WHY??? Because it is filthy, time consuming, hard work, take a look at what I mean....

This is how I spent my weekend. We are working on a home in Union NJ. This is an estate and is vacant so we are making a lot of cosmetic changes to the house to appeal to more buyers. Not only in the bedroom, but we ripped out 4 other rooms of wallpaper so buyers won't have to. This paper tore down some of the plaster walls (see all the white spots). We had to spackle and then add sand to the paint in order to get an even coat of paint. It was also "wonderful" to learn that the paint was lead paint.

NO WONDER buyers won't buy houses with wallpaper. I was exhausted by yesterday, we worked our butts off at this house. The finishing touches will be done this week and I will show you the difference in the room. We also ripped out the rugs to expose the hardwood floors. I also met with my landscaper and are having them improve the curb appeal of the home as well.

Before comes staging there must come the "prep" work that could be the very thing that clinches the deal!!

ReStyled to Sell Home Staging NJ....changing the way buyers views homes AND doing the dirty work for them so they don't have to. We are a FULL SERVICE HOME STAGING COMPANY and would love to help you prepare your home to sell.

Hey I feel cheated.  Where are the afters????  I think there is something therapeutic about demo work, exhausting as it may be.  Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Oh Phyllis, what a job!  I have a tiny front room and it's worse then what you're doing...it's painted over wallpaper.  And a fortune to correct (which now I understand why).  Hopefully the worst is over and I'm looking forward to the miracle you worked with this room!!

Phyllis, I feel for you.  Taking down wallpaper is never an easy job and then you had to spackle and paint!  No wonder you are exhausted.  I am quite certain that this house will be fantastic when you are finished.  Can't wait to see the after pictures.  Betty

Hey girls, Hey Maureen, don't feel too cheated because all we are doing in the room is painting and removing rugs. I AM NOT putting furniture in this house for several reasons. One being budget and two the house needed SO much cosmetic work that THIS is what will sell it. The daughter that we are working for is listing the house at a GREAT price JUST to SELL IT QUICK, so I wante to give her the most bang for her buck...so to speak.

The job should be completed by Friday and I will have some after shots by then.

Is good to work with sellers and help sometimes.  Most of us just want the listing and move on.  The listing then becomes a money drain and they complain it won't sell.  I have not done that much work but I have cleaned homes to make them shiny and nice.

Phyllis,

I am 1000000% with you on your wall papaer comments.  When it was a popular "weekend project" it seemed to be the best thing to send any couple to marriage counseling.  I consider myself pretty handy, but hanging wallpaper??  nothing has driven me more nuts..  now we all have to tear it off, like you are doing...HA!  I don't envy you
